Throughout 2018 EKG Labs has been traveling the country, attending a wide variety of pharmaceutical and medical device conferences. Dr. Allen Kesselring, Chief Science Officer at EKG Labs, attended Smithers Rapra’s E&L USA 2018 and presented on the evolution and challenges of USP <661.1> and <661.2> at PharmaEd’s Extractables, Leachables & Elemental Impurities 2018 — East Coast. Dr. Kesselring will be presenting this talk again for the West Coast at Extractables, Leachables & Elemental Impurities 2018 — West Coast in La Jolla, November 13-14. At the Medical Device Technology Exchange (MDTX) Conference and Exhibition, Dr. Kesselring presented on medical device material compatibility. Most recently, EKG Labs attended PharmaED’s Transdermal and Intradermal Drug Delivery Systems.
At this conference, EKG’s Dr. Xiao Jia presented “Regulatory and Experimental Considerations for Extractable and Leachable Analysis of Microneedle Patches: A Case Study”. This presentation included discussion on defining and classifying microneedles, an exploration of guidelines that apply to microneedles, considerations for E&L microneedle studies, and an overview of an EKG Labs case study performed on commercially available microneedle patches. Some preliminary results from this case study are already summarized online, though the final results were presented at the conference. The microneedle case study will also be presented as a poster at AAPS PharmSci 360 in Washington, D.C. on November 6th (poster number T1530-08-063, 3:30 – 4:30 pm).
