EKG Labs Heads West!

It’s convention season, and EKG Labs is excited to announce that we will be attending two conferences in California within the next few weeks. Every year we make an effort to attend crucial conferences in our field. It is very important to our lab that we continue to learn from other industry experts and to stay up-to-date. This year we will be presenting at Extractables, Leachables, & Elemental Impurities 2017 – West Coast in La Jolla, CA on October 24th and 25th, and we will be participating in symposiums at the 2017 AAPS Annual Meeting and Exposition from November 12-15 in San Diego, CA.

Dr. Allen Kesselring, Chief Science Officer at EKG Labs, will be presenting “USP <661> and USP <661.1>/<661.2> – The Good, the Bad, the Ugly, and the Future” at Extractables, Leachables, & Elemental Impurities 2017 – West Coast. EKG Labs has already had significant experience with these updates, regularly performing thorough extractables and leachables testing for medical devices, pharmaceuticals, and consumer products. We hope to share our knowledge regarding both the strengths and insufficiencies of testing to these chapters, as the chapters have had and will continue to have a major impact on the industry. If you would like a copy of this presentation, please let us know.

Also at this conference we are eager to participate in additional discussions on the changing regulations in the pharmaceutical and medical devices industries, including:

  • New USP chapters <665> and <1665>, which expand extractable and leachable studies into polymeric materials and components used in pharmaceutical manufacturing
  • The latest compliance implications of USP <232> and <233> elemental impurities chapters
  • ISO 10993 revisions and their consequences for the medical device industry

At the AAPS Annual Meeting and Exposition, we are particularly looking forward to hearing the symposium “Putting It All Together-Linking Biocompatibility, Extractables, and Leachables” that will be on the 15th.

One of our favorite elements of these conferences is the opportunity to meet both current and prospective clients face-to-face. When not in a session, you can be sure to find us exploring the exhibit halls and networking over coffee. If you would like to meet with Dr. Kesselring, or our CEO, Ms. Katie Grayson, at the conference to discuss your extractable/leachable questions or any other analytical needs, please click here. We’ll see you there!
